Think you have what it takes to hold the title of BU’s Funniest Student? Prove it to us! Auditions are this Tuesday (October 20th) at 7pm in BU Central.

Please prepare 2 minutes of material. Preliminaries are October 30th and the Finals are November 14th!

BU Central & WTBU Present…

After working with WTBU last Fall to put on two unforgettable shows, BU Central is proud to announce two exciting upcoming co-sponsored events.

BU Central and WTBU present WTBU DAY w/ Magic Magic, Pretty & Nice, and You Can Be A Wesley on Friday, September 11, 2009. All three bands have made a name for themselves in the Boston music scene, and while all the bands are local, some are more local than others. All four members of You Can Be A Wesley graduated from BU in May. Admission is FREE for all BU Students.

After the memorable Elliott Smith Tribute Show that took place last September, we decided it was only fitting to pay homage to the King of Pop this year. THE MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE SHOW will take place Friday, October 2, 2009. If you or anyone you know would be interested in participating in this event, let us know at buc@bu.edu. It’s not too late to sign-up to be on the line-up for this event! Like WTBU Day (and all other BUC events) admission is FREE for BU students.

New Semester, Old School Games

Hello everyone!

I hope you are having a great summer. While you have been enjoying some fun in the sun, BU Central has undergone some super sweet changes. Old school games are taking over BU Central and we can’t wait for you to try ‘em out!

BU Central is now the home of an original Asteroids Cocktail Table video game, Kung Fu Master arcade game, and a new ping pong table! PLUS, a shuffleboard, pinball machine, and customized bubble hockey table will be arriving soon…

So brush up on your skills and we’ll see you in a few weeks!

Rob O’Reilly, an old friend

Make sure to come down and check out our old friend, BU’s first “Funniest Student,” Rob O’Reilly. He’s performing tonight at BU Central! Doors open at 9pm, and as always, all BU Central shows are open to students with a valid Boston University ID. Two non-BU guests are allowed per ID.

Opening for Rob is BU’s third “Funniest Student,” Steve Macone.

We The Living, with special guests Kids With Kites

Tonight! Friday, February 27, 2009 @ BU Central

WE THE LIVING – This alt-rock band is unlike anything you’ve seen… they’re amazing live and they’re here at BU Central! Chances are you’ve heard We The Living on MTV’s Real World but if this band is still unknown to you, check out their MySpace. BUC says listen to: “Sound of Love” & “Best Laid Plans.”

KIDS WITH KITES – A local favorite here at BU, Kids With Kites has some amazing vocals and a unique sound. After a successful concert in Cambridge, several stints on WTBU, and with an upcoming performance at the Paradise, Kids With Kites will be taking the BU Central stage for their first on-campus show. Check them on MySpace. BUC says listen to: “Exit Poll.”

As always, doors are at 9:00pm. A valid BU ID is required for entry, and each BU student can bring up to two guests per valid ID.

Changes Changes! First the venue, now our schedule…

So here’s the deal: our meticulously planned schedule has changed, but don’t worry! It might be for the better, depending on how hardcore your Red Sox fanaticism is.

Our weekend events have changed, due to everyone’s desperation for a Red Sox fix. We couldn’t possible overlook the games, so the following are now the official plans:

Thursday, October 9th, we welcome On Broadway: BYOB, Boston University’s energetic, musical clan of theater junkies! This evening’s plan have NOT changed. Times remain the same (doors open at 7:00 p.m.).

Friday, October 10th, BU Central will still hold the monthly Gallery Opening and reception, but the time has changed! Now, come to the Gallery from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

However, if you stick around after you’ve made yourself feel more intellectual by absorbing all the artistic skill displayed around you, you’ll satisfy the jock within when we broadcast Red Sox Game 1!!!

If you can’t make it Friday, well, just show up around 8 p.m. on Saturday in BU Central to catch the Red Sox WIN Game 2 (well, we hope…).

“The Breakfast Club” is, in fact, at 10pm

We’ve been innundated with emails asking when “The Breakfast Club” starts on Saturday night.

The movie will begin at 10pm, as correctly printed on our website and on the Boston University calendar. We apologize for any confused caused by the BU Today article.

A little rain doesn’t scare us…

The Bo Burnham + Shane Mauss show will go on as planned. We’ve been getting emails asking about the forecasted weather, and it has no bearing on the show. Cancellation information would be posted here if necessary – but it’s unlikely.
