BUDT Community Involvement

The BUDT had the pleasure of hosting a guest dancer during one of the last home basketball games of the 2018-2019 season! Moriah is an autistic woman who receives assisted living benefits from the May Institute. She has always had an interest in dance and cheer and she currently participates on a cheer team for individuals with disabilities. Moriah has always dreamed of dancing for a professional Boston sports team. Getting a chance to be on the BUDT for a day and perform at a men’s basketball game was the perfect opportunity for her! The girls loved meeting Moriah and including her in our pregame preparations as well as our Senior Day festivities.

Captain Nina Maroudas prepared a simple timeout routine for the team to teach Moriah before the game. Moriah enjoyed learning the choreography with the girls in Case Gym before tip-off. Given that Moriah only had one day with the team and limited time to learn the timeout she did an amazing job and impressed everyone with her enthusiasm and curiosity about our program! She was thrilled to get a front row seat to the Terrier’s game against Navy as she waited for her halftime performance. She had a an amazing experience getting to perform for an audience and the BUDT is so happy we were able to give her this opportunity! We are so grateful to have gotten to spend a day sharing what we love to do with Moriah and her bubbly personality. You can see our performance featuring Moriah here.

The BUDT hopes to partner with other individuals or organizations in the community in the future. Email budt@bu.edu if you have opportunities for us to get involved!
