We hold spring tryouts for prospective dancers interested in attending the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Camp with us in the summer. Please email us at budt@bu.edu for information about spring tryouts.

Who is eligible to tryout?
Tryouts are open to freshman, sophomore, or juniors enrolled full-time at Boston University OR seniors or graduate students enrolled in a minimum of one academic course per semester. All levels of experience are welcome to tryout. Not only are we looking for dancers with strong skills and technique, but also excellent performers.

Can male dancers tryout?
Absolutely! Tryouts are open to both male and female applicants.

What can I expect at tryouts?
Candidates will execute technical skills across the floor (leaps, turns, kicks, jumps) and will learn and perform 3 short dance combinations (jazz, pom, and hip hop). Candidates will also have the opportunity to show us any special skills you would like, as well as answer a few questions so that we can get to know you. Your collegiate image will also be evaluated– make sure your hair is secure, you are wearing performance-ready makeup, and your clothes are clean, neat, and dance-appropriate.

What if I can’t make it to tryouts?
It is highly encouraged that you try your best to attend tryouts. If not, video tryouts are accepted on a case by case basis. Please email us at budt@bu.edu.

How many members are chosen for the team?
The team can have as many as 25 members each season depending on the number of qualified applicants.

Can I join the team if I plan to go abroad?
Going abroad is not recommended. However, if you have plans to go abroad and would still like to tryout for the team please email budt@bu.edu.

How often do we practice?
Between 3-5 times a week depending on the season. We practice more in the spring semester before Nationals.

Do we practice in the summer?
No, however all members are required to attend the NDA Camp in early August at Boston University.

What styles of dance do we perform?
We perform jazz, pom, and hip hop dances choreographed by our coach, team members, and some of the nation’s leading choreographers.

Where do we perform?
We perform at men’s & women’s home basketball games and special events throughout the season.
