Big One Recap and Treasurer for Next Year

Terriers!

Our Big One results are posted in our "Tournaments" section and I just wanted to congratulate everyone on a job well done, especially all of our new fencers. We do it all over again next week at our first Northeast Fencing Conference meet at the University of New Hampshire, so get excited.

In other news, congratulations to Arielle Sharma who will be our new treasurer for next semester! Looking forward to seeing what fundraising efforts we will have in the coming year!

See everyone at practice!

The Big One

Hey Fencers!

Our first tournament of the year, The Big One, is coming up on Saturday, November 5th. The only limits on the number of people we can take to this tournament are the number of spaces in the vans! Remember to sign up on the sheets in the closet by Wednesday if you are interested.

SPLASH!

Hey everyone!

SPLASH is coming up in just about a month (September 4th) and we are getting excited! To our returning members- try to come and recruit if you can. We'll be handing out fliers with meeting times. To anyone else interested, see you there!

It’s been a while…

Hello all! Welcome to the Boston University Fencing Club's blog! We've had an extremely busy and successful season and we're all looking forward to returning in the Fall. Over the summer, we will be constantly updating the blog with new and exciting information regarding our club for the 2011-2012 season. In the mean time, stay tuned. Hope to see you all at Splash 2011, Sunday, September 4, 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Nickerson Field!

Lots of stuff to do!

Hey everyone,

We have a lot of stuff going on right now, so hopefully this will help everyone keep track:

1. Consent to treat/Waiver form - please see email from Amy to print this yourself.  If you can't print it for some reason, ask for one at practice.  They need to be turned in THIS WEEK!! Download it below:

Consent-WaiverOfClaim2010

2. Personal equipment order - if you want any equipment for yourself, please find the email from Michelle about how to tell her what you want.  We will probably be ordering from Absolute Fencing, so look at the equipment there.  You are always welcome to order equipment by yourself, but we will get a discount as a club.  We are also trying to get this order out THIS WEEK!! You will be required to pay in advance.

3.  New Members! If you just want to get a glove, choose one of the gloves from this site: http://www.absolutefencinggear.com/shopping/shop.php/cPath/15?osCsid=688e6808d99d555ff5222f4245a18e47 and then tell Michelle which one you want.  You will be required to pay for your glove in advance.

4.  Our first tournament is still a ways off (Saturday Nov. 6th), but everyone should start thinking about whether they would like to compete in this tournament.  The number of people we take depends on how many vans we get, so hopefully we can take everyone who wants to go.  See the tournaments page for more info on this tournament.

Thanks guys!

Falling into Routine…

Hi Everyone,

I'd just like to say that this year is starting out wonderfully!  I do not think we have ever had this many dedicated new fencers since I was a freshman at BU!

However, I feel that because there are a lot of new people, it is a bit difficult to get to know everyone.  That being said, we will soon be doing team events, i.e. bowling, wiffle ball, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, movies, food, and jovial get togethers of all sorts.  I personally want to see as many people as possible at these events, whether they be squad based or for the whole team.  So do me a favor and hit us up on facebook, because it's a lot easier to spread the word and organize things via the internet! You can find all of the officers and veterans on the roster here on the site!

Splash!

Thanks to everyone who had the opportunity to come to the booth at Splash today.  It was very successful and of course, a very good time.

Remember that the info sessions are on the 6th - 8th!

Although the info sessions will be held during practice, the first official practice will be Thursday the 9th.  And by official, I of course mean that we will be playing the glove game.

It was good to see everyone again today!  Looking forward to the 6th!
