<p style="text-align: left">BU&#8217;s <a href="http://www.bu.edu/alumni/connected/buaa/">Alumni Association</a> is kicking off its brand new learning program <a href="http://www.bu.edu/alumnicollege/">BU Alumni College</a> this summer. Alumni College is a stand-alone program designed to empower alumni through immersive educational experiences.</p>
<p>The inaugural Alumni College is called <a href="http://www.bu.edu/alumnicollege/">Sustainability in the City</a>, which involves learning experiences where expert faculty from the <a href="http://www.bu.edu/cas">College of Arts &amp; Sciences</a> will address critical and practical sustainability questions by way of lectures, field trips, lab experiences and classroom discussions.  Other <a href="http://www.bu.edu/alumnicollege/program/">events</a> include a trip to the <a href="http://www.neaq.org/index.php">New England Aquarium</a> and a Sunset Harbor Cruise.</p>

<p style="text-align: left">Kerin spent President&#8217;s Day weekend in Northern Ireland and got a chance to view the <a href="http://citynoise.org/article/48">Peace Walls</a> and political murals in Belfast.  She experienced firsthand the contentious culture of the region when the bouncers at a bar declined to allow their friend from Dublin in because he spoke with a &#8220;southern Ireland&#8221; accent, was from &#8220;The Republic,&#8221; was &#8220;nationalist&#8221; and was, as they said, most likely Catholic.  <a href="http://thelifeofkerin.blogspot.com/2011/02/northern-ireland-trip-day-1-in-belfast.html">See for yourself.</a></p>

<p style="text-align: center">The life and work of legendary film director <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Altman">Robert Altman</a> will be celebrated at a symposium tonight at 5:30 PM, marking the publication of a new Altman biography and the 40th anniversary of his seminal film, “M*A*S*H.”  Favorite Altman actors <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliott_Gould">Elliott Gould</a>, <a href="http://www.sallykellerman.com/">Sally Kellerman</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Murphy_(actor)">Michael Murphy</a> will be joined in a panel discussion by his widow, Kathryn Altman, <em>Boston Globe</em> film critic <a href="http://www.boston.com/ae/movies/burr/">Ty Burr</a>, and BU Prof essor <a href="http://www.zuckoff.com/">Mitchell Zuckoff</a>, author of “Robert Altman: The Oral Biography” (Knopf) followed by a screening of “M*A*S*H.” <strong>Open to the public </strong>($10 for adults, $5 for children), the evening is sponsored by the <a href="http://www.bu.edu/com/">BU College of Communication</a> in concert with the <a href="http://www.bu.edu/alumni/interests/events/winterfest/">BU Alumni Association’s Winterfest Weekend</a> and co-sponsored by the <a href="http://www.bu.edu/cas/">College of Arts and Sciences Core Humanities</a>.  It is taking place at the Tsai Performance Center (685 Commonwealth Avenue).</p>
