The Peter J. Mozden, MD, Visiting Professorship in Surgical Oncology was established in 1989 to honor Dr. Mozden’s many contributions. This year’s visiting professorship will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4-5pm in Keefer Auditorium

Cocoanut Grove Fire Talk

The Historical Society will be hosting a talk on the Cocoanut Grove Nightclub fire on Tuesday, Nov. 10th at 12:00pm in room L206. BMC Trauma Program Manager, Joe Blansfield, NP, will talk about the Cocoanut Grove Nightclub fire, which was the deadliest nightclub fire in history. Mr. Blansifield will discuss the events of the fire and how survivors were treated. He has given this talk in the past and has received glowing reviews from students. Lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there!

Aceso: The Journal of the BUSM Historical Society is accepting submission for next spring's issue. We are looking for contributions in the fields of:

  • Medicine in Antiquity
  • History of Medicine, Public Health, and related fields
  • History of Medical Education
  • History of BUSM, BMC, and Boston City Hospital
  • History of Medicine in Boston and in Massachusetts
  • Biographical Essays
  • Ethics/Editorials
  • General Medical History
  • Book Reviews

If you have an interest in these topics, or have a suggestion for another topic, and would like to write an article please contact us at aceso@bu.edu.  We suggest a length or 2000-3000 words, but can be flexible.  Deadline for submissions is January 1, 2015.
