BU Finishes #34 Nationally, #6 Club

Captains Ben Bunjapamai and Jacob Roscoe with Senior Asa Tyler holding the Runners Up Trophy for the Chaffee Division

The Boston University Squash Team capped off its most successful season with a strong showing at the CSA National Team Championships held at Yale, finishing as runners up in the Chaffee Cup after falling 6-3 against Boston College.

Arriving at Yale University after a 3 hour drive, #35 BU pulled out a 5-4 win against #38 University of Washington at 7pm. The match was well played and a good start to the tournament.

On the Saturday at 12pm, the Terriers pulled through with another 5-4 win - this time against #39 Denison University with numbers 5 through 9 having solid wins. This win set up a Boston Showdown against crosstown rivals and top seeded #33 Boston College.

Following the first round of matches BU trailed BC 2-1, having collected a win from Map Teeravithayapinyo's 3 game victory at #6. In the second round of matches #8 Humzah Mahmood pulled through with a 5-game win. Unfortunately, trailing 4-2 BU managed only one more win through Allan Chen, also in a five game match at #7. At #1 Ben Bunjapamai dropped a 3-1 match against a very strong opponent, while #5 senior Asa Tyler lost a 5 game match despite having held a 2-1 lead.

Overall, BU has finished a very strong season having finished the previous season at #50 and two divisions lower. The terriers will graduate only Asa Tyler, who has been a crucial part of the team's leadership. We wish him all the best in the future!
