When: September 28th, 5 pm
Where: Life Sciences and Engineering Building, Room 103
24 Cummington Street
What: GWISE is bringing together previous BU winners of major fellowships to give you their tips on how to put together a competitive application. You will learn: types of fellowships available, how to decide which ones to apply for, and how to maximize your chances of actually winning one!
Presentations will be given by:
– Katinka Csigi, Grant Development Coordinator, Chemistry – an overview of the fellowship application process
– Panel of five students with various fellowships – Q&A about the search and application process
Panel members: Jane Zhang (Biomedical Engineering, CIMIT Award), Shirley Sanchez (Neuroscience, APA Neuro Pre-Doc Fellowship), Jennifer Lamp (Geology, NSF-GRFP), Dewi Harjanto (Biomedical Engineering, NSF-GRFP), Jan Anderson (Astrophysics, NSF-GRFP).
Although some emphasis will be placed on the NSF-GRFP, this workshop will also discuss field-specific awards, internal BU awards, and awards for which international students are eligible.
A follow-up peer editing session will be held in October, to which you can bring a draft of your actual application to get feedback before the due date! This event may be especially helpful for first- and second-year students.
Space is somewhat limited, so RSVP here.
