The original six members of The Callbacks auditioned for another comedy group at Boston University in Fall 2009. They were called back, but were not asked to join the group.
So they decided to take matters into their own hands and have a meeting to discuss their options.
They originally thought they would found a depression support group, but every time they tried to talk about their malicious sentiments toward mother figures they made jokes. Good jokes.
Eventually they realized that they were in fact HYSTERICAL.
But they couldn’t be so sure. They needed to be certain that others found them just as funny and the hilarity wasn’t reliant on a psychological defense mechanism that developed after the casting to comfort their aching egos.
So they had a show in BU Central. Then they became an official SAO group and hosted a couple more shows in BU Central.
Countless inside jokes, meetings and an Excellence in Student Activities Award for New Student Organization of the Year later they stand here today. The avant-garde of comedy, the pinnacle of college humor…
The Callbacks.
