Spelling Bee 2015

The Day of the Spelling Bee

· You will get a nametag to wear. The color of the nametag will show the pool you are in.

· All the spellers will form one long line.

· When it is your turn, someone will pick a word from your pool.

· You will hear the word twice. You will also hear the word in a sentence. You can ASK to hear a definition.

· You will have 20 seconds to write the word on paper.

· After 20 seconds, you will say the word and then spell it.

· If you spell the word correctly, you will go to the back of the line. If you spell it incorrectly, you will sit down.

BEWARE!

· Once you say a letter, you cannot change it. (Make sure you know the pronunciation of the vowels in English.)

· If you write it correctly, but spell it wrong aloud, IT IS WRONG.

· If the word begins with a capital letter, you must say “capital” Eg Boston Capital B o s t o n

· If someone in the audience tries to help you, you will be out.
