About the Students

Yi-Yun (Melody) Chao, is originally from Taiwan, and has  just completed her first year in the College of General Studies at Boston University.  She is interested in exploring the differences in the cultures between Taiwan and the PRC, and thinks she may want to work in Shanghai someday.  In addition to Taiwan, she has lived in Indiana and Boston–and now Shanghai, too.

While she was born in Florida, and calls Costa Rica home, Katie Dyner came to China because is excited to learn about a new culture and to speak a new language. She was a member of CGS Team C this past year, and she looks forward to earning a degree in education at BU.

By the time she finishes this summer’s program, Chinese will join English, Spanish, and French in Gabriella Kursman-Neri‘s language arsenal.  Originally from Venezuela, Gaby spent many formative years in the United States, and is interested in exploring new cultures.  After she completes her two years at CGS, Gaby plans to major in management, with a focus on marketing and international management.

Even before enrolling in the Shanghai program at CGS, Tali Sandel had significant study abroad experience, as the California native spent her junior and senior years of high school in Switzerland.  She plans to major in international relations with a minor in business and to continue studying Chinese language.
