Greetings future Terriers,
Congratulations and welcome! You got into COM, which makes you kind of a big deal. Now that application essays and SAT scores are a thing of the past, take a moment to step back and be proud of your accomplishments. The hard part is behind you. COM likes you, it really likes you! Now, it’s our job to make you like us back.
My name is Sarah Bellardini and I am currently a freshman in COM. I hail from the small town of Amsterdam, NY (NOT Amsterdam, Holland). For me, choosing COM was a no-brainer. I toured nearly a dozen communication schools, but the College of Communication at BU stood out amongst the crowd – practiced professors, hands-on extra curricular activities and prime location were just a few of the many selling points. And really, the country’s longest running college soap opera is pretty impressive.
I am a film & television major here at COM. I’m not entirely sure which area of film & television I’d like to pursue in the long run. As of now, I’m most interested in writing for and producing TV, but I’d like to get a little bit of experience in everything. I’ve also picked up a minor in sociology, which I discovered passion for after an intro class my first semester here (thanks to the CAS requirement).
Outside of COM, BU offers me nearly every important factor on my college checklist. When I am not busy communicating, I enjoy singing with my a cappella group, volunteering with the Community Service Center, working on the stage crew at the College of Fine Arts and exploring all that Beantown has to offer. There is never a dull moment if you don’t want there to be.
So again, congratulations – conquering college applications is no easy feat. Take a moment to relax and get pumped for Open House, because COM really is the BOMB!
