Hey new COM Students! My name is Tom Schrank and I am the coordinator of the COM Ambassador program. I am a COM sophomore from Long Island, NY… And yes, that means I have an accent.
Being someone who has considered every major possible, I came into COM as an undeclared major. After going a year in COM, I’ve made the decision to major in advertising, with a focus on the management side. If you are undeclared, not to worry! COM will give you plenty of time to choose a major: something I found very helpful coming in as a freshman. I am also pursuing a minor in sociology.
Aside from being a COM Ambassador Coordinator, I am actively involved with “BU On Broadway” and “Stage Troupe,” our two premier theater groups on campus. Through my time in both groups, I’ve taken on a variety of roles. Most recently, I acted as “Hunter” in [title of show] (yes, that’s the actual title!) and was the Producer of The Producers. This semester I was cast as “Chip” in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I’ve found my involvement in our theater groups on campus a great way to combine my love for acting with more practical experience as a producer. In addition to these, I also work in COM Student Services.
In my spare time, I am a huge fan of Jason Mraz. I am desperately waiting for him to come on tour to Boston. I am also a Starbucks addict (how can you not be one when there is one in Warren Towers?) and I love the beach. I love watching TV in my spare time as well, particularly Modern Family, True Blood, Smallville, or Friends, which are some of my recent favorites. Oh, and I like to act. If that wasn’t clear already.
