Global Day of Service a Success!

The Distance Education team had a wonderful time at the Franklin Park Zoo demonstrating our support for BU’s Global Day of Service. Even the rain couldn’t dampen our spirits as we raked leaves, carried rocks, and shoveled compost to prep a patch of barren land to be a wildflower garden. group

Twelve staff members of the Office of Distance Education participated, including Director Nancy Coleman. A strong supporter of this day, Nancy felt strongly about “giving back to the community, and choosing the zoo to support its mission of inspiring people to protect and sustain the world for future generations.”

Senior Student Services Coordinator Liz Curran helped us coordinate the day, choosing Franklin Park Zoo “because it seemed like a fun place to volunteer while allowing my department the opportunity to work together in an outdoor environment that was completely different from our normal day-to-day indoor office experience.”

We were proud to participate in what will surely be an annual event. If you participated in a volunteer effort on April 17th, we’d love to hear about it!
