Developmental Stuttering Press Coverage

Samia Madwar, a journalism student at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada put together a summary of recent work investigating developmental stuttering from Dr.  Luc De Nil’s lab in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her article is published in Catalyst, a showcase for science reporting students. Dr. Beal created and contributed the structural brain images described in the video content. Tim Hortons Roll Up the Rim to Win 25th Anniversary Media Tour

Dr. Beal had a ton of fun when he appeared on several television and radio media outlets to teach Canadians how to produce an alveolar trill (rolled /r/ sound) as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Tim Hortons Roll Up the Rim to Win contest.  Check out some of the video and audio clips as well as pictures from the media tour below.

University of Toronto Arbor Award

In 2008, Dr. Beal was the recipient of the University of Toronto Alumni Association Award Award for volunteer service. Dr. Beal was a member of the Speech-Language Pathology Alumni Association since 2000 and president since 2003. He  helped organize and administer various events and awards for both students and alumni. Under his leadership, the association successfully increased and maintained new membership. Dr. Beal is especially proud of his involvement in the department’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
