EC305: Economic Statistics

Course Objective: The goal of this course is to give you an introduction into the basic concepts of modern statistics and to teach you how to analyze data. We will discuss core topics like Descriptive Statistics and the basics of Probability Theory and Sampling Theory, and also emphasize broader issues like Causation, Mean Regression, and Bias. This course will prepare you for further study in Econometrics as well as higher level courses in Business, Economics, or other social sciences. No prior knowledge of statistics is necessary, but a working knowledge of Algebra and Calculus is assumed.
