Meet Sheerin, the latest addition to our guest student series! Sheerin was kind enough to share some of her favorite experiences she had while taking U.S. and Trans-Border Mergers & Acquisitions and U.S. Corporate Law for the International Lawyer. Thanks Sheerin!
U.S. and Trans-Border Mergers & Acquisitions with Professor Steve Marks
“In Steve’s class we got to do a Capstone like project and that really helped me “get it”. It also gave me a chance to learn from my mistakes in the context of the learning environment, not on a job. That made me feel like I spent my time and money very wisely. Finally, I think Steve’s approach to facilitating, as opposed to directing, and understated yet friendly demeanor disarms and creates the type of environment necessary for learning in small groups.”
U.S. Corporate Law for the International Lawyer with Professor Kevin Outterson
“In Kevin’s class, we discussed cases extensively and because of Kevin’s ability to drill down on factual differences, identify common threads and provide practical strategies, I feel that I was tutored by a scholar and a lawyer but only had to pay for one. I am also extremely indebted to him for pointing out that I was not as precise as I could have been in a couple of sentences in my assignment. At this stage in my career, no one points those things out to me so it was a fantastic reminder and made me feel like I was being mentored. I also really appreciated Eva’s feedback because her comments on memo structure helped me understand why U.S. counsel writes memos the way they do and I will be able to explain that to others. It sounds so minor but memo structure can create misunderstandings.”

hi folks– I am following your blog and announcements with interest. I appreciate that BU has created this opportunity for practitioners to do an LLM without a 9 month residency, and I am currently negotiating with my firm in the U.K. to see if they will support me in doing this program next year. Hope to be see you then! Best, Y. Oatsfield
