2012-2013 Captains Named

As the summer reaches its hottest days, the Boston University Club Baseball team has taken its first step towards defending its 2011 NECBA title. The team recently announced the two captains for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year. Senior shortstop Jeremy Hartman and Junior catcher Jordan Kessel were voted by their teammates as the two captains for the Terriers.

“It’s an honor to be in the same group as some of the great captains in BU’s history,” claimed Hartman. “I am definitely ready to take on the leadership role and make sure we defend our title this fall.”

“It means a lot to have earned the respect of my teammates,” stated Kessel. “It’s really a payoff of how I play the game and I hope to make that intensity contagious this year.”

Hartman hit .467 this spring in an offensive outburst that was a result of a strenuous off-season training program. He led the team in average along with his stellar glove at shortstop.

Kessel was named an NECBA All-Star in the fall hitting .471 with a team highs of 15RBI’s and a .764 slugging percentage.

The Terriers have nine returning players and are expecting a stellar recruiting class this fall.
