Guess Who’s Back! Yessir. Habitat…. Hablogtat.

Well Hello,

How good it is to be back here, blogging away, about the latest news and events involving BU Habitat this semester. We just finished our second general meeting, in our new location at STH B19 on Commonwealth Avenue, and the year is finally off and running. We have a lot of new projects on the way, and the BU House in Dorchester on Rosindale is almost completely funded. As far as the near future goes, here’s what we have on our radar:

Build Trips will be heading out on October 17 and 24! They will be led by Katie Durand and John Dixon, very respectively. Come to our next meeting on the 12th to get your head in the game and sign up.

November 7 – We will once again be involved in the hugely successful annual run in Lexington. The “Lexington Battlefield Run” is a 5k/10k (that’s roughly 3/6 miles for my fellow respiratory challenged friends) and runs through the heart of Lexington. Last year the event was held on a beautiful Autumn day in New England, and it’s a great event to bring friends to and raise funds for Habitat. For sign up info, email habitat@bu.edu.

November 13 – We are on the verge of partnering in a fund raising event with UNICEF this Fall. The event will feature a live band called “Keeping Riley” at BU Central and we’re hoping to bring in a number of raffled-off items. Stay tuned on that one for more.

Lastly, we have a rumored destination for our Spring Break trip… I don’t want to give out any hints, but it rhymes with Shmabaica….
