We have a great opportunity to earn a lot of money for Habitat.  My
friend Alex just opened up his own real estate firm and wants to get
involved with Habitat.  He will donate a sizable amount of money for
each referral made by a BU Habitat member.

Promotion Details:

For each referral made by BU Habitat that leads to a rental, Hodara
Real Estate Group will donation the following amounts towards the BU
Habitat House:

$150 each of the first 5 rentals
$200 each of the next 5 rentals
$300 each rental after the first 10

The person from Habitat that makes the most referrals (minimum of 5)

P.S. I’ve known Alex since freshman year.  He is a very nice talented
individual and will represent you/your friends well during the
apartment search process.

Our Raise the Roof for Habitat show and fundraiser is coming up soon,
and we need your help! The event in Friday, Feb. 27th starting at 7. BU
performing groups will compete to raise the most money in their name
and there will be FREE DOMINOS PIZZA! Tickets are $3 beforehand and $5
the night of, and bring some money to donate in the name of your
favorite performance. Some groups performing include Step About Boston,
Treblemakers, the Dear Abbeys, Speak for Yourself, BU Ballroom, and BU
on Broadway. Here’s how you can help:
1. Invite all of your friends to the facebook event
2. We will be selling tickets during lunchtime at Warren on the 16th,
17th, and 18th. If you’re available to sell tickets for a couple hours,
please email Amanda at ajcarloz@bu.edu
3. We will also have a link table at the GSU every day the week of the
23rd to the 27th fromm 11-3, and we need people to work that table too.
4. We need members at the actual event to sell and collect tickets and
work backstage
5. If you took flyers at the meeting on Tuesday, please make sure they
get put up in your residences and/or classroom buildings.

If you can help with any of these things, please email Amanda.

We really really need any help you can give, and make sure all your
friends come to the event (it shouldn’t last much longer that 9 so you
can still go out)!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! We have a build trip set up for
Saturday the 17th to Bedford, and as we’re not going to have a meeting
before then, sign ups will be through email.  There is a 12 person
limit, so it’s first come, first serve. Email me back as soon as
possible if you’d like to go.

Habitat is helping an organization called Starlight, which works to
provide Boston’s homeless with clothing. As you may have noticed, there
are boxes in most of the residence halls and for the next few weeks, we
are hosting a clothing drive at BU. If anyone is interested in
monitoring the boxes in their residence hall or making posters for this
event to raise awareness, please email me and let me know. Otherwise,
please donate what you can and get your friends to help too!

Another even we need your help with is the Agganis clean-up, which will
be a week from tomorrow. Agganis will pay us $750 to clean up the arena
after the hockey game on Friday, November 21st. We will start at
9:30pm and we need as many volunteers as possible. The more members we
have helping, the faster it will go. Please email me to let us know if
you can help or to confirm that you can if you already signed up at the
meeting. This is a great Habitat bonding experience and will be fun, so
please please please come!

We have a new website, which is still a work in progress, but it has a
calendar of events and meetings. If you want to check it out, the link

Also, as you probably know, this weekend is parent’s weekend. It’s also
our first fund raiser, Buy a Board! from 12-4pm on Friday and Saturday
we will have a table set up in Marsh Plaza where we’ll have 2×4′s that
will actually go into building our habitat house. We are asking for a
donation to sign these boards. There are still open spots for
volunteers to work this event, so if anyone is free and interested,
email our fund raising chair Amanda at ajcarloz@bu.edu . All of the
money raised will go towards our Bedford house fund, so bring your
parents and friends and come sign a board!

Marsh Chapel has invited Habitat to join them for their second annual
CROP Walk on Sunday, October 12 at 12:30 pm.  CROP stands for
Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. 25% of what is raised will
be dedicated to a local charity, which will be our BU Habitat House
fund. We are hoping to start a Habitat team on the BU Walk page at
cropwalkonline.org. click on Massachusetts and then the Boston
University Crop Hunger Walk link to join a team or donate money.

We need all the help we can get, and you will be helping us reach our
fund raising goal of $40,000 for this year! Please let me know if
you’re interested or register online.
