Important Stuff

Hi everyone,

Sleep Out is coming up! From the 22nd to the 24th, we’ll be sleeping
out on Marsh Plaza every night to raise awareness for homelessness and
housing issues. We’re asking everyone who plans on sleeping out to
register on our website at http://people.bu.edu/habitat/sleepout.html
(click on register now!). You can sign up individually or as part of a
team, and the individual and group winners will get a prize for raising
the most money. Also on our Sleep Out page are links to a letter to
friends and family and a donations log. We’re asking everyone to try to
fundraise and get sponsorship for the event.

Also, there are still spots open on the April 11th build trip to
Dorchester. Please let me know by Tuesday if you want to go.

Step About Boston, an Irish step dancing group at BU, is having a free
event with food and dancing lessons on April 10th at 7pm in the SAC gym.

Congratulations to our new e-board!

Tuesday’s Minutes (3/17/2009)

Hi everyone,

In case you missed our meeting on Tuesday, here's what we talked about:

We have officially switched our BU House Project to the Greater Boston Habitat affiliate. This means that we will still be raising the same amount of money ($50,000) but will be sponsoring a project on forclosed property in Dorchester instead of Bedford.

Sleepout is April 22 to 24 this year. We want this to be a campus-wide event and will have prizes for the people who raise the most money. We will have more info on the event at later meetings. Let me know if you
would like to join the Sleepout planning committee.

We will be having e-board elections at our next general meeting on the 31st. If you want to run for any of the positions, be prepared to say something in front of the group before we vote.

the positions are:
President
Vice President

Treasurer- deals with SAO and track finances
Secretary- take minutes, email group and e-board, thank you letters
Spring Break- plan, budget trip
Fundraising Chair- plan events, grantwriting
Build Trip Coordinator- arrange weekend build trips
PR Chair- advertising
Webmaster- maintain website

If you have any questions about the positions or elections process, email habitat@bu.edu

Good Luck,
Emily Nolan

Raise the Roof Event

Hi everyone,

Our Raise the Roof for Habitat show and fundraiser is coming up soon,
and we need your help! The event in Friday, Feb. 27th starting at 7. BU
performing groups will compete to raise the most money in their name
and there will be FREE DOMINOS PIZZA! Tickets are $3 beforehand and $5
the night of, and bring some money to donate in the name of your
favorite performance. Some groups performing include Step About Boston,
Treblemakers, the Dear Abbeys, Speak for Yourself, BU Ballroom, and BU
on Broadway. Here's how you can help:
1. Invite all of your friends to the facebook event
2. We will be selling tickets during lunchtime at Warren on the 16th,
17th, and 18th. If you're available to sell tickets for a couple hours,
please email Amanda at ajcarloz@bu.edu
3. We will also have a link table at the GSU every day the week of the
23rd to the 27th fromm 11-3, and we need people to work that table too.
4. We need members at the actual event to sell and collect tickets and
work backstage
5. If you took flyers at the meeting on Tuesday, please make sure they
get put up in your residences and/or classroom buildings.

If you can help with any of these things, please email Amanda.

We really really need any help you can give, and make sure all your
friends come to the event (it shouldn't last much longer that 9 so you
can still go out)!

Thanks,
