S. Hamid Nawab is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- He is a Joint Professor of Biomedical Engineering.
- He is Research Professor in the NeuroMuscular Research Center.
- He is Associate Chair for Graduate Studies of the ECE Department
- His research interests are in approximate processing algorithms and theories for turning physiological and perceptual signals into useful computer bits.
- He co-pioneered the Integrated Processing and Understanding of Signals (IPUS) approach for information extraction from complex biosignals.
- He was elected into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2006. He was cited by AIMBE for his “contributions to the analysis of complex biosignals from speech, auditory, and neuromuscular systems.”
- He won the 1993 Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching from Boston University.
