speak. – issue no. 4

How do we give voice to the communities which our current presidential administration repeatedly attemptsto silence? We are fed up. speak. is about refusing to be silent. In the generation of #MeToo and #SayHerName, we are called now more than ever to call out bigoted and hateful views, willful ignorance, racism, sexism, and xenophobia. We have an obligation to ourselves and our communities to call out those who continually abuse their power and influence. We invite you to speak your truth.

Submissions on the topics can include but are not limited to:

Rant! What pisses you off? We want to know. Write a poem. Draw something. None of the above? That’s okay. We fully endorse half-baked thoughts. Click the link and rant away.

Mantra. – How can we uplift our friends? Our peers? Even our enemies? Ourselves? How can we reaffirm our own self-worth in a society that continuously tries to tell us we are unworthy? How can we exercise self-care in those moments? How do we take care of
ourselves and others?

Dialogue. – What are the conversations we need to be having right now? How can we foster inclusion and understanding through dialogue with our peers, teachers, family, and community leaders?
