Internship Opportunity, Summer 2010

foresight-logoForesight Science & Technology is looking for interns, entering their junior year and above, to work on our Pipeline Partners™ program and to gain a hands on experience with T2+2 (June and July or July and August) this summer. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA or better, be a highly-motivated, organized, and a self-starter.

Foresight specializes in the commercialization of technology, with an emphasis on renewable and clean energy, healthcare, and the environment. Internships are at Foresight’s headquarters in Providence, RI, a short walk from Brown University.  The work is a paid position for eight hours per day, with one hour for lunch. Salary is $10/hr.  Foresight’s dress code is casual. High performing interns are given preference in future hiring.

Providence is the capital of Rhode Island. It is noted for its European-like ambiance and wonderful restaurants, plus easy access to the state’s miles of ocean beaches and to the Appalachian Trail. Boston is about 40 minutes away by car or train; New York is about three hours.

Speaker Bio:

Michael C. Ritter

Associate with Global Prior Art's Medical Devices consulting group

Mike is an Associate with the Medical Device Group at Global Prior Art.  Since joining Global in 2008, Mr. Ritter has worked in a variety of medical device spaces, including laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgery, glucose monitoring and insulin delivery, and obesity treatment.

Mr. Ritter received his M.S. in biomedical engineering from Boston University, where he worked in Bela Suki's lab, researching lung structure and physiology.  He specifically focused on modeling the roles of individual proteins in tissue failure.  He received his B.A. from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, with a concentration in physics.

Brendan Sever:

Senior Associate with Global Prior Art's Semiconductors and Electronics consulting group

Brendan specializes in intellectual property for the fields of Computer Architecture, Integrated Circuits, and Semiconductor Manufacturing.  Since joining Global 3 years ago he has worked on numerous projects related to microprocessors, DRAMs, flash memory, power supply circuits, solar cells, video coding, GPS systems, telecommunication protocols, antenna design, semiconductor surface inspection, and more. Mr. Sever has broad experience reviewing U.S. literature and U.S. patents for numerous high stakes patent cases. He is also fluent in the German language and often reviews technical literature and patents that are uncovered by GPA's European search team.

Mr. Sever holds a masters degree in computer systems engineering from Boston University and a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  He started his career as an electrical engineer by designing automation systems for Switzerland's largest food processing plant, BINA. After his work in Europe, Mr. Sever worked as an electronics engineer for Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin in California before moving to Boston and attending BU.
