The focal point of my research is visual information processing, i.e., processing of various forms of signals that eventually are perceived by humans as visual stimuli. I have been involved in projects that span a very wide range of applications, from colonoscopy video analysis, through spectral imaging for space explorations to 3-D IMAX movie enhancement. Recently, I have been involved in the following research thrusts:

- Visual Sensor Networks (VSNs): video analytics and forensics for homeland security, environmental and healthcare applications,
- 3-D: capture, processing, compression and display of 3-D video on stereoscopic and multiview screens,
- Advanced Video Processing and Compression: novel methods for next-generation visual communication and surveillance,
- Biomedical Imaging: analysis and visualization of biological and medical imaging data.
