Introduction

Hello! My name is Kasey and I am excited to introduce myself as one of the new Marsh Associates! I come to Boston University from Holden Village, a former mining town turned ELCA Lutheran retreat center tucked away in the Cascade Mountains of Washington, where my family has lived for the past four years. Although I have not yet declared a major, I have fallen in love with cultural anthropology and hope to add a Spanish minor to that as well. When I’m not studying or helping out at the chapel, I can usually be found reading, knitting, playing viola or guitar, hiking (or dreaming about hiking), running on the esplanade, or bubbling over about how beautiful it is outside. I am most moved by snow-capped peaks; alpine meadows; bodies of water; the writing of Mary Oliver, Ryler Dustin, William Stafford, and David James Duncan; singing with the Marsh Chapel Choir; and the spectacular range of views the seasons bring to my bedroom window. When I grow up, I never want to identify a point in my past as the best time of my life because I don’t ever want to stop loving the moment I’m living in. I have a lot of questions about life and what I’m meant to do in the world and, while I know I will find some answers as I go along, I hope those questions never completely go away because I don’t think life is simple enough for me to ever have it all figured out.

I’m looking forward to this coming year of moments to fall in love with and I hope to find some answers to those big questions along the way—along with quite a few more questions.
