The Men’s Volleyball Club is a competitive team that is affiliated with the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF) and the New England Collegiate Volleyball League (NECVL). During the year, the team engages in competitive intercollegiate play against teams such as: Northeastern, UConn, Boston College, UMass Amherst, Dartmouth, and many more. During the fall semester, the team engages in tournaments throughout the New England area, and we are especially proud to host our own Winter Invitational Tournament in December. This tournament draws teams from collegiate, club, and adult leagues across the region. We have hosted as many as 32 teams at this weekend- long tournament. BUVB placed second in gold bracket last year, one of its best performances to date. In the spring, the team competes in numerous league tournaments such as the NECVL New England Regional tournament, as well as the annual national tournament hosted by the NCVF. This year the BU team will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to improve on their performance last year and bring home a trophy for the New England region. Participation on this team requires a great deal of commitment and dedication. Team practices take place year round.
The BU team made history in the spring of 2016 by becoming the first ever volleyball team, men’s or women’s, to win a National Championship for the University. They defeated The University of Virginia Cavaliers in the third set to bring home a seemingly unattainable championship. Led by coach Eddy Delsignore and Captain Matt Lee, the Terriers have established that they are now not only a regional powerhouse, but a national threat. Off the court the team makes great strides to increase their impact on the community by becoming involved in community service. In recent years, the Terriers have volunteered at Hub on Wheels, an annual bike event that supports Boston Bikes and Special Olympic Massachusetts. Last year for the first time the team went to volunteer for Paddy’s Road Race in Newton, an event that supports Athletes Unlimited.
