Eddy Delsignore

Drawn to BU because of its location and proximity to Boston sports teams, Eddy tried out and made the club volleyball team as a freshman in the fall of 2006. From that point on, Eddy started every match for the next five years, while graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and choosing to attend BU for graduate school to pursue a degree in Sports Psychology, which he eventually achieved with Summa Cum Laude Honors.

As a player, Eddy was a part of the 2009 NECVL Championship team and was named to the NECVL All-Conference Team three consecutive times—2009 to 2011. He started most of his matches at Outside Hitter, but also started matches as setter and as opposite hitter. He was part of the executive board of the club from 2007-2011, serving as president and captain in his senior and graduate student years. In his tenure as an executive board member, the BU Winter Invitational grew from 16 teams to 36 teams, and continues to be the premier fall tournament on the East Coast to this very day.

After a year hiatus from BU, Eddy returned as a coach of the team in 2012 to lead them to a NECVL Championship. Eddy also coached the team in 2014, leading them to yet another NECVL Championship, making him the only BU alum with NECVL titles as both a player and as a coach. Eddy continues to coach the team at the present time, hoping to lead them to more regional and national accolades. He is also known for being a pioneer in the Club Sports Department in the field of freedom for graduate students to play club volleyball.
