There are different places to spend a dreamlike vacation, but whenever I think of a family vacation I always think Orlando. This touristic destination not only offers numerous lodging alternatives ideal for the whole family, it is a magical place where fun never stops. Regardless of my age, Orlando keeps on surprising me with its numerous tourist attractions, theme parks, restaurants, live shows etc. It will always be one of my favorite vacation destinations to go, even as a college student.
If traveling to Orlando for the first time, there are certain things that you can’t miss. Walt Disney World is one of them. As its slogan says, this is “the most magical place on earth,” and visiting Orlando without visiting Walt Disney World is like not visiting at all. I recommend staying at an Orlando vacation rental if you are visiting with a large group of friends or your family. The vacation rentals around the area are pretty big and give you the chance to cook so you can take food and save a little on food as well. Another advantage is that there are several options really close to this beautiful park so when you are done with the park, usually feeling really tired, you will be home to a comfortable bed pretty soon.
Fans of movies and Hollywood world will also have a blast in Orlando. First of all, for those that don’t know, Orlando is considered by many as “Hollywood East” due to the numerous cinematic enterprises of the area, so if you like cinema, Orlando won’t disappoint you. A great starting place is Universal Studios, Florida. I have been to Universal Studios in L.A. and I personally like Florida’s one better. Somehow I feel that rides here are more fun.
If you like the water and feel like getting in touch with sea creatures a good option is Discovery Cove and of course famous Sea World. While Sea World is a “live show” like attraction, Discovery Cove is more a “natural environment” attraction where you can interact with dolphins, birds and fishes.
Finally if you ever feel hungry and have some extra money for a great dinner I strongly recommend a dinner show. There are many options that range from a love fairy tale to an Arabian nights show. It is really up to you, but I can assure it. You can also visit Lonely Planet for detailed information about restaurants and things to do during your trip!

I agree that Orlando just keeps on surprising you and age doesn’t matter that much. I think I still feel as much excited about great theme parks and high coasters as when I was a kid
When you become older though, you discover other attractions Orlando offers as well. Recently I wrote a post about other Orlando attractions on my blog here: http://oregonstate.edu/~hughsonk/?p=44 .
Hope you find it interesting!
