Maine

Maine, a region where 40 lakes and ponds create a huge fishing, boating and golfing paradise is famous for its scenery, beautiful coastline, picturesque mountains and gorgeous forests. Nowhere else you will find such a variety of attractions such as snowmobiling, state parks, lighthouses, beaches and lake cruises and accommodations variety that ranges from hotels to bed and breakfasts and vacation homes. These are only some of the reasons why I recommend visiting this place.

If you like to learn about history you will find that Maine is full of surprises. This state is home to many surviving forts and historic houses that turned into museums. I specially like the Maine State Museum that highlights the history of this State and its people, Another museum I would say is worth the time is The Maine Maritime Museum to see the state’s nautical heritage.

Besides its numerous museums and beautiful scenery, Maine is also famous for its spectacular and fresh seafood. Maine lobsters definitely highlight most of the menus throughout the state. And depending on your budget you can enjoy fine dining in elegant city restaurants or indulge yourself with delicious home-cooked meals on the country side.

If you like outdoors you will love exploring the majestic mountains while camping and hiking or snowboarding during the winter. For water sports fans, there are long miles of coastline, rivers and lakes to discover by kayak, boat or seaplane; and if you like golfing you can tee off at a lakeside course and relax at a Maine vacation rental. You won’t find a more peaceful setting than a Maine’s golf course with spectacular ocean views and lush greenery.

And as always, shopping is a must! Designer outlets in Freeport, Kittery and Ellsworth and specialty stores in Portland’s Old Port make Maine the shopper’s paradise. If you like unique items like me, Maine offers exclusive maritime antiques and local handicrafts perfect for a souvenir.

Another activity worth your time is guided bicycle tour. These tours are great to explore Acadia National Park and pedal along the rocky coastline. You can also opt for a challenging rafting trip along the Penobscot River if you like adrenaline filled adventures.

Maine is a State that sparkles through all seasons, year-round. It is definitely a great option for spring break or end of the year vacation. If you would like some tips and traveling help you can visit Kirtsy.com.
