Palm Springs

Some places simply have an unfair abundance of natural beauty and Palm Springs, California, is one such place. A vacation here is one of those that you will never forget that is for sure. The city was named for its plenteous natural hot water springs, which form oases surrounded by palm trees. Protected by mountains on three sides, this city boasts a balmy average winter temperature of 57 degrees Fahrenheit. When you’re stuck in the winter doldrums or suffering through a rainy spring or gray fall, this is a delightful place to flee to. Yes, it is full of expensive hotels, but it also full of a variety of vacation rentals, that are way more affordable than a hotel room. A good idea is to rent a Palm Springs vacation rental with a big group of friends so you can share the cost and enjoy these amazing destination.

And filling your days with adventure, history and glamour is not hard at Palm Springs. Whether you like outdoor activities, museums or art galleries, there will always be something to do at Palm Springs. If you like golf for example, there are over 100 courses from which to select. If you are more an outdoors person you may wish to visit nearby Joshua Tree National Park for hiking or rock climbing or you can head to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which will cool you off as it whisks you to the top of Mt. San Jacinto. Its 10,831 foot altitude provides sweeping views and cool temperatures. A truly amazing experience and one I totally recommend. That is, of course, if you don’t suffer from heart problems or are afraid of heights, cause it can be very intense.

If you like culture instead, I recommend you visit the Palm Springs Desert Museum. This museum offers numerous travelling exhibitions as well as an impressive permanent collection which I loved. Right in the middle of the town you will find The Village Green Heritage Center which houses the Mc Callum Adobe and Cornelia White House memorabilia of the country’s pioneers. Some other resources of Palm Springs can be found at Lonely Planet.
