Sometimes taking a vacation in a secluded area is a must. Yes I love destinations like Las Vegas or Orlando, but some contact with nature gives me energy and helps me revitalize my spirit. So when I think of such a place to vacation I always think Outer Banks, North Carolina. This string of barrier islands is filled with quiet beaches, watery hideaways full of wildlife, historical places and numerous Outer Banks vacation rentals perfect for the type of rejuvenating vacation I am talking about. Imagine booking one of those quiet and sheltered vacation homes to simply relax and unwind with a group of friends.
Vacationing here is truly a delight. Activities like wildlife watching, kayaking at Pea Island and hiking up to the top of Jockey’s Ridge will fill your days and nights with adventure. If you enjoy life’s little things, I wouldn’t miss climbing America’s tallest brick lighthouse. You will be treated with an amazing and truly enjoyable view.
If you like cultural activities there are also a lot of options. Poetry nights and art galleries abound in every village in Outer Banks and a visit to the Roanoke Island’s Waterside Theatre will allow you to enjoy a beautiful play in America’s longest running outdoor theatre.
Another thing I like a lot about Outer Banks is its culinary offer. If you like seafood specially, you will not have a hard time finding fresh and spectacular dishes, and you may also be lucky enough to witness a professional chef performance.
Outdoors possibilities are also great here. From bird-watching, kayaking, canoeing and fishing to more challenging scuba diving and hang gliding, you can try almost everything here.
And finally, if you enjoy shopping just as much as I do, you will be delighted with Outer Bank’s little souvenir shops and fashionable boutiques. One souvenir I love for its uniqueness is the seashells or miniature lighthouses that you can find in these little shops.
