Making a list of places to visit in Rome is simply impossible. There is too much to see and do! The Pantheon is one of my favorites. It is one of Rome’s signature buildings rebuilt in 117-125 AD by Emperor Hadrian. It was originally built as a temple of all the gods of Ancient Rome and it is currently the oldest standing domed structure in Rome.
The Vatican City is always a must see. It is the pope’s residence and it was built over the tomb of Saint Peter. Inside the city visitors can find 11 Vatican museums and Vatican Gardens that will simply enchant you. Another of the main attractions of the city are Rome’s squares. These squares are a great place to mingle with locals an tourists alike. The Piazza del Campidoglio located on the Capitol Hill is the Italian Government headquarters and the Piazza Venzia is a representation of the city’s heart.
And no vacation in Rome would ever be complete without a visit to the Colosseum. Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Colosseum was the biggest structure of its type during ancient Rome and it was the center of ancient Rome’s entertainment. Gladiatorial and animal combats took place here.
And last but not least are Rome’s Museums. Museum fans will find themselves at heaven here. From the Vatican Museum, the Capitoline Museum to the Wax Museum and the National Museum of Pasta; the options are simply unlimited.
Known as the “Eternal City,” Rome is the capital of Italy and one of the most recognized touristic destinations of the country and the European Union. Home of the state of the Vatican City, this modern and cosmopolitan city will fascinate you with its magical and eclectic ambiance!
