California is one of the most varied states to vacation, and one of my favorites. It is located in the West Coast of the United Sates and It is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. It is also the most populous state of the country and the third largest in land area. California is divided in twelve regions that offer unparalleled diversity. These regions include the Bay Area, Central Coast, Central Valley, Desert, Gold Country, High Sierra, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, North Coast, Orange County, San Diego and Shasta Cascade. It is definitely a place worth visiting if you ever have the chance. The state is full of fun attractions, natural wonders, as well as numerous lodging options that vary from comfortable California vacation rentals and California beach rentals to luxurious hotels.
Due to its diversity, choosing what to do in California is a very challenging task. There are so many alternatives that one visit will never be enough. From world class shopping, five-star dining, beautiful landscapes, ski adventures, cable cars, theme parks, wine tasting, animal encounters and much more, California will never disappoint even the most demanding travelers.
A good place to start exploring California is the Bay Area and the Central Coast. California’s Bay Area is one of the most unique places in the world. San Francisco, Oakland, Napa, Vallejo and Santa Cruz among others, make up this beautiful area. San Francisco’s magical cable car, free spirit and the amazing Golden Gate Bridge, Napa Valley’s popular wineries and Santa Cruz’ idyllic beach communities await those looking for something really different. California’s Central Coast made up of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura among others, has a unique geography that includes the dramatic views of famous California’s Highway 1. If you start by California’s Central Valley and Desert you will be amazed by the fertile farmlands, hospitable people, historic sites and wildlife refuges that can all be found at this part of the state. You will also be able to enjoy extreme adventure sports and rustic downtown districts ideal for those who like active vacations. California’s desert region is also great if you like challenging hikes, rock climbing and mountain biking or simply enjoying the breath-taking sun-drenched desert valleys.
If history is your thing, California’s Gold country is for you. It has been rated as an Alpha world city; it is one of the world’s most prominent centers of culture, technology and international trade and it is also home of such worldwide recognized sites and attractions as Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater and Universal Studios among many others. So if you are looking for real fun, don’t doubt visiting this area of California.
The famous OC and California’s North Coast are popular for a reason. These regions of the state provide real relaxation and a place where you can get away from everything and enjoy nature at its best. They are also a great area to enjoy the real California experience with beautiful beaches, incredible and exciting surfing, beachfront cafes and tanned and beautiful people, always running and doing sports at the beach shore.
And finally one of my favorite cities; San Diego. If you want to return home after your vacation, don’t come to San Diego. The place where weather is always perfect and the people are always nice, San Diego has a hypnotic effect on all its visitors. Legoland, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park and Sea World are among San Diego’s attractions. It is, in my opinion the best family vacation destination. You can bring your kids and enjoy San Diego’s excellent weather, beautiful beaches and numerous attractions without the traffic of the famous Los Angeles.
In few words, if you are looking for something truly different every day of your vacation come to California. Regardless of your vacation style you will find it all at this enchanting state.
