About Me

I’m Sandamali Devadithya; a Ph.D. candidate at Boston University with a strong background in computational imaging, inverse problems, numerical optimization, and signal processing.  I have worked on imaging applications for security screening from mm-wave scanners to X-ray CT scanners.

Currently, I am working with Prof. David Castañón on my Ph.D. thesis. I have proposed and implemented advanced regularization techniques to reduce noise and metal artifacts in X-ray CT based baggage screening and proposed novel methods for better material characterization. In addition, I have modeled and implemented numerical optimization algorithms for efficient reconstruction of large scale 3D X-ray CT cargo screening.

Previously I was a research student with Prof. Matt Reynolds at University of Washington, Seattle where I completed my Master’s thesis. There I proposed a GPU-accelerated, robust algorithm for 3D mm-wave imaging and a novel SAR imaging mode for enhanced resolution with dynamic metamaterial antennas.

Currently, I am doing an internship at Livermore National Labs, on improving material recognition with X-ray CT.

I am looking to graduate in summer 2021 and is looking for full-time positions.
