Here at Sargent Choice we’re huge fans of Real Food. Food that nourishes you, that you love the taste of, and isn’t artificial. It makes sense that we also love the blog, Food For Real. She is on her way to becoming a registered dietitian and is currently interning at Lowell General Hospital and as done several rotations here at the Sargent Choice Nutrition Center. She brings a fresh approach to cooking that is grounded in real, whole foods. You won’t find any fad diets or processed, packaged foods  or ingredient lists the size of  novels on this website! Instead Horton’s blog represents a slice of her life via food, fitness, and fun. Some of her recent posts reflect that

Since the kids left it is just my husband and I, so now I have the time (and desire) to find new recipes for us to try. When the kids were home they insisted on a steady diet of more or less the same thing and refused to try new and different things.

I am looking forward to satisfying our palate now!

Unfortunatly we live in a generation where most meals are bought ready made from the supermarket and the person eating them probably has little knowledge of the ingredients that when into them and the effects that this has on their body.

Home cooked food is best, you control what it’s made from and know that the ingredients are fresh.

I’m impressed, I need to say. Actually not often do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your thought is outstanding; the difficulty is something that not sufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I’m very blissful that I stumbled throughout this in my search for one thing relating to this.

Yes, it’s all about “Real Food” in my book – serving our families fresh and local as much as possible is the only way to go. Once you take that path, there’s just no other way. That’s what I try to get across on my blog also.

I’m glad to see so many others that share my philosophy of choosing real food.

Good Day Elizabeth, I see I am a little late for the “every Wednesday” posts, but is there a section were they can be read? Perhaps and RSS feed?

We really put an emphasis on the importance of healthy foods and would like to share some of the ideas and recipes with the folks on our newsletter.

Thank you.

Great Post!
As a fitness fanatic, a healthy diet is essential. Although I prefer not to call it diet as that implies it is a temporary thing that may end, I prefer to say nutrition. Anyway eating right is much more important in staying healthy than exercise itself! (Although that doesn’t hurt either). I will use the advice on this website to create new recipes for myself and also to put on my blog! Very interesting and great information.

I enjoy Stephanie Horton’s blogging. I agree with her basic attitude toward processed foods, and am a big believer that you can’t go wrong eating whole foods–at least you know what’s in them!

Being a “father who cooks”, it has so far taken 13 years to get my son to enjoy mildly spiced Indian dishes… almost there now. I made a four curry thali the other day, with lots of “green” stuff and a few pulses. He ate every mouthful.
The secret appears to be to starve children for several hours before you feed them!

I found that by modifying my diet, I was able to substantially reduce the amount of ringing in my ears. Bananas or ripe bananas were the biggest culprit.
