I am a Professor and chair of the Academic Standards Committee in the Administrative Sciences department at Metropolitan College (MET), which is one of the largest schools within Boston University (BU).  I am also the Online Programs Coordinator for my department.  Programs at MET are accredited by AACSB, the EFMD ‘EPAS’ accreditation, and by the PMI GAC.  BU is a ‘world class’ institution, ranked as one of the top 40 or so universities globally (US News & World Report) and with excellent (top 6) rankings for online programs.

I arrived here in January 2009 from the UK. Before teaching at BU I taught at Plymouth Business School in the south-west of England.  I teach both in the classroom and online (see my teaching page for details of courses), and research into the behavioral aspects of project-based management, with a particular emphasis on improvised work in the project domain.

I am internationally recognized as an acknowledged expert on improvised work in project management, and have presented at major international conferences and published widely on this subject.  I have also presented a number of keynote sessions on this subject, including one at the 5th Brazilian PM Congress in 2010 in Brasilia.

Prior to my academic career, I worked for over 20 years in Banking and Finance, with my later banking career being focused on commercial mortgage financing to small and medium-sized businesses, and the project management of technical, cultural, and behavioral change.

I am a member of the editorial boards of the Project Management Journal, Project Management Research & Practice (formally Organizational Project Management), and the Journal of Administrative Science & Technology.
