I Think I Should Go To Naples, Florida…

October 28th, 2008 by JDTrvlAgnt

Naples, Florida was once described as “surpassing the bay in Naples, Italy”. It’s similarity to Italy in terms of climate, ecology, and beauty is the reason the name stuck. Naples is located in southwestern Florida across from another popular tourist spot, Marco Island.

Visiting Naples, Florida is of course a lot closer and a lot cheaper than flying to Italy and there is just as much to do. A lot of people consider Naples one of the best places to visit in all of the United States due to it’s stunning beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, a vibrant arts and culture scene, and a plethora of sports activities. Residing in Naples is easy especially in luxurious vacation homes either directly on the beach, or on a golf course. Naples beachfront condos are a spectacular way to escape from the realities from society.

Naples’ beach along the Gulf of Mexico stretches for over 10 amazing miles and was voted as the 2005’s best beach in America by the Travel Channel. Such high-ranking distinctions are not unfamiliar to this pristine stretch of shoreline. So if you are a world traveler looking for unbelievable beaches, head to Naples.

Besides spending time relaxing on the beach, Naples has an extremely strong performing arts community to be enjoyed by tourists and visitors alike.  Attracting big name performers is the Philharmonic Center for the Arts located in North Naples and the Naples Player at the Sugden Community Theatre is always good for a laugh.

For those who enjoy the great outdoors and sports, Naples is home to more than 80 championship golf courses and is sometimes known as the “Golf Capital of the World”. The best time for sports enthusiasts is in the spring when the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox begin their spring training only a short distance from the Naples community.

Naples, Florida is the ideal beachfront community that combines rest and relaxation along with fine arts and finer dining and sports activities for the whole family. For more on the nightlife in Naples, visit Frommer’s excellent guide here.

I Think I Should Go To Marco Island…

I have spent a lot of time discussing the superb travel spots located on the mainland of Florida. Let’s move to the Gulf of Mexico and Southwest Florida, home to Marco Island. Marco Island is positioned at the northernmost tip of the Ten Thousand Islands and just south of Naples. Like most of Florida, Marco Island offers spectacular weather, glorious white-sand beaches, and many arts & entertainment.

Marco Island has many exciting real estate opportunities both for vacation rentals and permanent homes. So for those specifically searching for Marco Island rentals, it is not hard to find your dream accommodation right on a sunny Marco Island beach shore. Come to Marco Island with the whole family or with your significant other to relax, soak up the sun, and wash away your worries.

There are many other enticing adventures to be had on Marco Island. If you are interested in wonderful art, the Art League of Marco Island has a wide assortment of events, field trips, classes and gallery exhibits. So bring your paintbrushes and easels to Marco Island and paint of its stunning sunsets.

Marco Island offers many great dining alternatives including Marek’s Collier House Restaurant and the Café de Marco. Both offer delectable varieties of fresh seafood and other personal touches that will make your dining experience very special.
But alas, there is only so much to do besides lying on the beach. Who wants to waste time anyways? Marco Island has three large beaches facing the warm Gulf of Mexico. Marco Island’s three beaches: Tigertail Beach, Resident’s Beach, and South Beach offer sun and fun for the whole family, including sailing, boating, fishing, and much much more. Or for the lazy bunch, just lie on the beach and soak up the rays!

Marco Island is a great travel destination, especially those looking to stray of the typical Florida tourist spots. Lots of sun, a simple charming city life, and stunning beaches makes Marco Island a must visit destination. Visit Frommer’s excellent guide to Marco Island here.

October 27th, 2008 by JDTrvlAgnt

Kailua Kona, or simply “Kona” as is preferred among local Hawaiian’s is the center for commerce and the tourist industry in West Hawaii. Things are small and low-key on Hawaii’s Big Island representative of Hawaii’s laid-back island atmosphere, tropical climate and addictive culture.

I Think I Should Go To The Bahamas…

October 27th, 2008 by JDTrvlAgnt

The Bahamas remain a popular destination for American tourists due to its brilliant weather and close proximity to the American mainland. But it has much more to offer than simple beauty and location. The Bahamas, formed by two thousand cays and seven hundred islands, is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. Notable islands in the Bahamas include Grand Bahama, Great Inagua, Andros Island, Great Abaco and New Providence, home to Nassau, capital of the Bahamas.

All of these islands offer stunningly clear blue water, low-lying tropical flat lands, and miles upon miles of white sandy shorelines. The Bahamas offer many great lodging opportunities with many of the Bahamas vacation rentals offering beachfront locations in the larger islands of the Bahamas.

All of the islands in the Bahamas offer similar opportunities for fun and adventure. The Bahamas offers 100,000 square miles around all of its islands for incredible sailing and boating. While boating, be sure to bring snorkeling or diving gear to explore the abundance of marine life. Other water sports include jet skiing, kayaking, and windsurfing, among many others.

The Bahamas consistently remain a popular tourist destination due to the gaming, dining, and entertainment that exudes from all of the islands. Kids on spring break looking to let loose at an all-inclusive resort are found along with couples on secluded getaways, trolling the beaches during the day, or enjoying fine cuisine at night. Those looking to relax can enjoy many of the great spas that are located in the Bahamas luxury areas.

The Bahaman nightlife is perhaps the main draw for mainland tourists and visitors from around the world. The legal gambling and plethora of casino resorts makes this a betting mecca and a great place to earn back a return on your travels.
But it’s the beaches of the Bahamas that make it a glittering destination for visitors. The most spectacular beaches include Cable Beach, Cabbage Beach, Xanadu Beach and Tahiti Beach, all extensively detailed in Frommer’s guide to the best beaches of the Bahamas.

I Think I Should Go To Myrtle Beach, FL…

October 20th, 2008 by JDTrvlAgnt

Myrtle Beach? That’s in Florida right? Nope, not even close. Myrtle Beach has transcended this confusion and has become a major tourist destination both in South Carolina and in the overall United States.  Myrtle Beach offers Florida like weather, amenities, beaches, and other similarities, but it maintains its southern charm and innocence through the brilliance of its people and local culture.

What’s the best way to experience Myrtle Beach you ask? The best time to visit Myrtle Beach is in the spring, summer, and fall months where the beach sparkles and the Atlantic Ocean offers a multitude of activities for the adventurous. Staying in Myrtle Beach vacation rentals or other lodging alternatives is easy to do in Myrtle Beach. The aforementioned links offer great prices and superb locations. Check ‘em out!

Because Myrtle Beach has blossomed into a focal tourist destination for anyone traveling around the United States, there is a mature cultural downtown area with a wide array of activities, sights, restaurants, and shopping. One visiting Myrtle Beach simply needs to take a stroll through the Grand Strand Area to experience the full magnitude of what Myrtle Beach has to offer. Particularly in this area is the Broadway at the Beach. Myrtle Beach’s Broadway at the Beach is a shopping center built upon 350 acres and includes an astonishing 3 hotels, 11 nightclubs, and 20 restaurants. If you cannot find something to appease that cynical family member, then perhaps they should stay at home and not go t o one of Broadway at the Beach’s 100 specialty stores.

But Myrtle Beach does not have that “Beach” attached to its name for just any reason. No, Myrtle Beach offers dazzling weather, gorgeous sandy beaches and in the right month, a warm and pleasant Atlantic Ocean to swim, fish or boat. For great reviews of hotels, restaurants and other amusements in Myrtle Beach, head to TravBuddy’s official Myrtle Beach blog page for extensive information.

If you’re planning your next vacation, and you feel Florida is the only destination in the Southeastern region of the United States, look again. Myrtle Beach has the beaches, shopping, and accommodations to match anything Florida has to offer.

I Think I Should Go To Fort Lauderdale, FL…

October 20th, 2008 by JDTrvlAgnt

Do not be deceived by the militaristic sounding Fort Lauderdale. Residents and tourists of Fort Lauderdale would rather lie on one of Florida’s most beautiful beaches than fight wars, shoot a round of golf than shoot a gun, or ride around the seas in a yacht rather than a warship. Fort Lauderdale’s southeastern locale along the Atlantic Ocean provides the perfect climate for snowbirds and summer tourists alike.

While visiting Fort Lauderdale it is best to bunker down in one of the magnificent vacation homes located in an around the city. An ideal place for spring breakers, families, and couples, Fort Lauderdale’s accommodations are definitely best represented through gorgeous Fort Lauderdale vacation rentals. Rent one of these as a home base for exploring all that Fort Lauderdale has to offer.

Fort Lauderdale is one of the largest yachting communities in the country. Characterized by its brilliant location on the Atlantic and its extensive inner canal system, Fort Lauderdale has sometimes been classified as the “Venice of America”. Sailing or yachting, rowing or kayaking, there is not a better place in the United States to bring your boat.

For those practicing an alternative lifestyle, Fort Lauderdale was named “America’s Top Gay Resort Area” and has local festivals and many gay residents to welcome the gay community into Fort Lauderdale.
Fort Lauderdale’s Los Olas Boulevard is the primary vein of the city’s arts and entertainment district. Nightclubs, bars, and other entertainment venues line the Boulevard making it a must visit destination in this varied and cultured city. A few great bars and hot spots to check out downtown include The Art Bar for lots of fun and great music and Howl at the Moon for an amazing “dueling pianos” bar experience.

Leave your guns at home, your military garb in the closet, and bring your linen-wear and flip-flops to Fort Lauderdale. Attempting to shed its “party-central” image, Fort Lauderdale has many cultural and historic destinations, perfect for the whole family.

For a fantastic overview on Fort Lauderdale and everything it has to offer, check out Lonely Planet’s online guide.

These golf spots offer natural and scenic challenges to the casual or more advanced golf hand.

For the baseball enthusiast, a great time to visit the Fort Myers area is in the early spring during MLB’s spring training. Daytona Beach is another fabulous city in Florida, home to NASCAR’s Daytona 500, famous as a popular spring break destination for college and high school students, and an overall sunny and spectacular place to visit.

Daytona Beach is historically recognized for its densely packed beach allowing motor vehicles to drive right onto the beach, proliferating the automobile race scene and the general party atmosphere. Daytona Beach has many vacation rentals, hotels, and motels that line the actual beach area.  Many places offer Daytona Beach condo rentals as a luxurious alternative to staying with millions of college kids or NASCAR fans.

The Daytona 500 is the Super Bowl of NASCAR traditionally held as the first race and kick-off to the long NASCAR Race season. I Think I Should Go To Panama City Beach…

October 19th, 2008 by JDTrvlAgnt

Ah, the self-proclaimed “spring-break capital of the world”. Panama City Beach located in the Florida Panhandle along the Gulf of Mexico is one of the foremost destinations for college and high school students eager to take advantage of the glorious beachfront vacation rentals, the warm waves of the Gulf, and the energetic nightlife.

As a college student, let me paint a picture of the insanity that can ensue if you are to travel to Panama City Beach.  First, you call up three or four friends; find a party condo rental Panama City Beach style, load up the van, stop at the grocery store, spend all your money on alcohol, and head down to the glittering shores of Panama City Beach.

Two, you grab a glass, mix a drink, snag a towel, head down to some of the finest beaches Florida has to offer. If lying on the beach all day is not your cup of tea, Panama City Beach offers many variations of water sports, including scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, or snorkeling.

The sun has cast its evil burn upon your skin and you and your friends are all single and ready to mingle. This means it’s time to hit up some PCB hotspots including Harpoon Harry’s and Sharky’s Beach Club. For a more laid-back atmosphere, you must hit up The Boatyard to find some great live music.

But Panama City Beach is not all about partying and spring break. There are many sights and attractions away from the beachfront. These include the Gulf World Marine Park, the Museum of Man in the Sea and the Zoo World Zoological & Botanical Park. For more in-depth views of these sights and maps on how to get there, visit Lonely Planet’s guide to Panama City Beach and click on Sights.

Young or old, Panama City Beach has a lot of great things to offer. Sparkling white beaches, crystal blue skies, wild-college parties, or laid-back live music; Panama City Beach has everything.
