Dear fellow AMNESPers,<\/p>\n

Happy April! \u00a0I hope that you are soaking up the long-awaited sunshine outside even as I type this.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I have been remiss in writing to you about elections for our GSA; it’s time for us to focus our energies upon next year’s leadership and agenda. \u00a0But first, a moment of congratulation and reflection. \u00a0We’ve accomplished a lot together this year and I think we should note the following developments:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We established an\u00a0officially recognized and approved graduate association<\/b> at the university<\/p>\n
We built a\u00a0web presence<\/b> for the GSA<\/p>\n
We conducted\u00a0monthly meetings<\/b> to address matters relevant to the graduate community of AMNESP*<\/p>\n
We assisted faculty in an\u00a0external review process<\/b> that confirmed our program’s national profile and ranking<\/p>\n
We maintained the success of the\u00a0Americanist Forum<\/b><\/p>\n
We revitalized the\u00a0Learning the Ropes<\/b> series<\/p>\n
We began the process of creating a\u00a0new AMNESP online journal<\/b><\/p>\n
We founded a\u00a0social action committee<\/b><\/p>\n
We organized a\u00a0conference<\/b> that drew fellow graduate students from a range of institutions across the country<\/p>\n
We established a place for a\u00a0student representative on the AMNESP executive committee<\/b><\/p>\n
We began the year dependent upon the Program for funding and\u00a0now have $545 in our GSA account<\/b><\/p>\n
We celebrated together through\u00a0new social channels and events<\/b><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Undoubtedly, there are projects and accomplishments that I have missed, but such is the way with such an ambitious group of people! \u00a0Suffice it to say that we’ve done a good job and we have done it together. \u00a0In that spirit, I am requesting nominations for the following positions on the GSA for next year:<\/p>\n

Preservation Coordinator<\/b>–see Haley<\/p>\n
Orientation\/Welcoming Coordinators<\/b>–see Adrea, Channon, Sam<\/p>\n
Fundraising Chair<\/b>–see Sarah<\/p>\n
Americanist Forum Chair<\/b>–see Kathleen or Rob<\/p>\n
Social Chair<\/b>–see Emma or Karen<\/p>\n

Gretchen Pineo has graciously agreed to remain our webmistress unless or until someone in AMNESP would like to take that on.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Please send your nominations to me by this Friday, April 12th. \u00a0I will contact all nominees this weekend to ensure their willingness to participate, and then we will hold elections next week. \u00a0After the elections, I will send out an email about the final AMNESP GSA meeting for this semester.<\/p>\n
