Jon was surrounded by his family: Kanta, Adam, and Jonah. They and Jon are in our thoughts and prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Students, faculty, and staff will remember Jon with extroardinary affection.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment1586\" style=\"width: 154px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment1586\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1586 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/bjuarez\/files\/2011\/03\/lipsky.jpg\" alt=\"Professor Jon Lipsky\" width=\"144\" height=\"133\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment1586\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Jon Lipsky. BU Photo Services.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jon&#8217;s family and friends are planning a memorial service on the Vineyard later in spring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/bostonglobe\/obituaries\/articles\/2011\/03\/21\/jon_lipsky_creative_force_on_boston_theater_scene_at_66\/?page=2\">Read <em>Boston Globe<\/em> obituary.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>His work appeared at the Actors Theatre of Louisville\u2019s Humana Festival of New Plays, American Repertory Theatre, La Mama ETC., Berkshire Theatre Festival, Missouri Rep, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Theater Emory, Sugan Theatre, and other regional theatres. He was a director and Artistic Associate at the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha\u2019s Vineyard, where he lived, and was playwright-in-residence at the Merrimack Rep, TheatreWorks\/Boston, and Boston\u2019s Museum of Science.<\/p>\n<p>His work also included:\u00a0<em>Living In Exile\u2014a retelling of the Iliad<\/em>;\u00a0<em>The Survivor: a Cambodian Odyssey<\/em>;\u00a0<em>Dreaming with an AIDS Patient<\/em>;\u00a0<em>Maggie\u2019s Riff<\/em>;\u00a0<em>Molly Maguire<\/em>;\u00a0<em>Beginner\u2019s Luck<\/em>; and an interconnected series of nine short plays called\u00a0<em>Book of Revelations<\/em>. <strong>In 2007, he won the Boston Critic\u2019s Eliot Norton Award for Best Direction in a small company<\/strong>. His award-winning collaboration with jazz musician Stan Strickland,\u00a0<em>Coming Up for Air: An Autojazzography<\/em>, was presented at the Boston Center for the Arts in September and toured in 2009.
