Himagowri Prasad – President

Hima is a Junior at BU studying Biomedical Engineering, concentrating in Nanotechnology, and minoring in Chemistry. Her research interests lie in biomaterials for medical applications. Her passion for biomaterials started in high school under her internship with Brimrose Technology Corporation where she researched crystal growth for medical applications. Currently, she works under Dr. O’Shea in the Glia Engineering Lab at BU where she researches branching parameters of charged oligomers to be used for coacervate formation for CNS injuries. In her free time, Hima enjoys hanging out with friends, exploring the city, baking, and yoga.

Leo Boisvert – Vice President leojb@bu.edu

Leo is a Junior at BU studying biomedical engineering with a concentration in nanotechnology. He is currently an undergraduate research assistant at the WISE Circuits lab under Dr. Yazicigil. He is interested in how biomaterials research can be used in the development of cell-free and cell-based biosensors, particularly for medical diagnostic applications. Leo enjoys traveling, F1 racing, video games, and playing basketball.

Anushka Kelshiker – Public Relations Chair

Hey everyone, my name is Anushka Kelshiker, a sophomore studying biomedical engineering. As the public relations chair for the SFB, I am passionate to explore the various solutions biomaterials can provide at the intersection of technology and healthcare. This year, I would love to advocate for increased biomaterials research, and provide students with the opportunities to present their work and get more involved in the field. Specifically, I hope to start researching about medical implants that can be used to replace or restore damaged tissues in the human body.
