Community Service: Challah for Hunger

The BU Squash Team was very excited to find such an engaging community service opportunity. Challah for Hunger, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to promoting hunger relief and encouraging awareness across America for the purpose of Jewish mitzvahs, was such a great experience for everyone on the team. Each team member was able to create their own challahs. The team even purchased some once they were baked! We thank Challah for Hunger for hosting us.

The BU Squash Team is excited to introduce our new head coach Hunter Bolling! Recent graduate of Connecticut College, Hunter attended Tower Hill School, in Wilmington, Delaware, where he played football, lacrosse and squash (independent of school since they didn't have a team). Hunter was recruited to play squash at Connecticut College. During his time at Conn College, Hunter was captain both junior and senior year. 2014 graduate, Hunter majored in economics and minored in anthropology with a focus in archaeology. Outside of squash Hunter loves to hunt and fly fish. He has a 14 year old English Springer Spaniel who's name is Coca. Hunter has a younger brother who is a senior University of Delaware.

A great addition to the team, Hunter has already helped the team improve and is excited to help the team finish off their season strong. Welcome to the BU Squash Family, Hunter!

Swarthmore Round Robin December 5th and 6th

The BU Men’s Squash Team made the long trip to King of Prussia, PA this past weekend to play in a round robin tournament hosted by Swarthmore College. BU started off the weekend on Saturday by playing Fordham University. Emanuel, Paulo, and Allan secured BU wins in the the 4-6 positions. Unfortunately, the only other BU win came from Marwan Sallam who’s thrilling 5 game win was a highlight of the match. Ultimately, BU ended up with a frustrating 4-5 loss to Fordham.

After loosing a close first match, the Terriers were able to have strong rest of the weekend. BU faced Penn State later on Saturday and won in a 9-0 shutout. BU won all the matches by scores of either 3-0 or 3-1.

On Sunday, BU was first scheduled to take on Minnesota. Unfortunately, Minnesota did not have time to play what would have been a fun match and had to default the match due to travel scheduling problems. Later on Sunday, BU played their final match of the weekend against host school Swarthmore. The Terriers secured another 9-0 win, their second of the tournament. It was a great weekend for the BU Men’s Squash team who went 3-1 on the weekend to close out the Fall semester.

A Great Start to Our 2015-2016 Season!

The Boston University Squash team is extremely proud of all that we have accomplished thus far in the season. However, none of this could be possible without our friends and family who have supported us and have kept this program alive. We are extremely grateful to all of our supporters and hope to continue to make you all proud.

Most recently the men and the women faced Tufts on Saturday, November 21st. Although it was an extremely tough match, considering Tufts is a varsity team, the BU squash team really gave all it their all. Although none of the women won, all of the games were extremely close. The men also were challenged by Tufts. BU's only victory was an exciting match between Marwan Sallam ('19) and Braden Chiulli (Tufts '18), number one on the ladder. Marwan was able to win 4-1.

Although the tough loss against Tufts, the team was had a great turn out in terms of friends and family - thank you all for coming.

Coming up next, the men are traveling to Swathmore for a Round Robin December 5th and 6th. We wish them good luck!
