<\/a>Hi guys!\u00a0 Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I\u2019m a social media fanatic.\u00a0 I\u2019m constantly tweeting, checking in, and pining anything and everything I find.\u00a0 But, when it comes to getting an internship or preparing for the workforce, it\u2019s all about LinkedIn.\u00a0 Every college student should create an account.\u00a0 Even if you don\u2019t have a ton of experience to include in your profile, it\u2019s definitely worth having one, and here\u2019s why:<\/b><\/p>\n

1. <\/b>You\u2019ll make a great first impression when applying for an internship<\/b><\/p>\n

Employers do Google search potential employees during the hiring process.\u00a0 Trust me.\u00a0 And nothing looks more professional than having a LinkedIn profile.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great way to show that you\u2019re serious, and it gives you the chance to show off all the experiences that you\u2019ve had in the past.\u00a0 Plus, LinkedIn has great features that allow you to add links to different projects you\u2019ve completed.\u00a0 How cool!<\/b><\/p>\n

2. <\/b>You\u2019ll be totally prepared for interviews. <\/b><\/p>\n

Knowing about a company and asking interesting questions during the interview will definitely put you ahead of the competition.\u00a0 That\u2019s where LinkedIn comes in.\u00a0 You can search companies on LinkedIn and learn more about their mission and services.\u00a0 Plus, you can get the chance to see the type of people who work there.\u00a0 You can even find people who\u2019ve previously had the position that you\u2019re applying for, and look at their job description to get a better grasp on the responsibilities of the position.\u00a0 It\u2019s like Facebook stalking, but a lot less creepy.<\/b><\/p>\n

3. <\/b>You\u2019ll have networking down to an art.<\/b><\/p>\n

LinkedIn is a great place to connect with people in the industry!\u00a0 You never know who may have a job lead, or who could connect you with someone who has your dream job.\u00a0 You can join groups, follow companies and stay up-to-date on what you\u2019re connections are doing.<\/p>\n

4. <\/b>All your hard work will finally pay off!<\/b><\/p>\n

Remember that job you had where you worked countless hours and really gave it all you\u2019ve got?\u00a0 Well, you can have something concrete to show for it by asking for a recommendation or endorsement from past employer or colleagues.\u00a0 If you ever feel awkward about bragging about yourself, let someone else do it for you!\u00a0 Potential employees will love it!<\/p>\n
