As if being single wasn\u2019t hard enough, the universe just comes along and throws this holiday in your face to remind you of your singlehood. Valentine\u2019s Day is cool and all, but it\u2019s no one\u2019s favorite holiday. We kind of just accept it and wait for it to be over so we can get on to the real fun: Chinese New Year. If you\u2019re like me and haven\u2019t tricked anyone into viewing you as a potential romantic interest, then here are some alternative V-Day plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Crying yourself to sleep<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Oh come on, like you weren\u2019t going to do this anyway? It\u2019s ok. No one will ever love you as much as that body pillow you spoon with at night and that\u2019s completely ok. I won\u2019t tell if you don\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Binge watching romantic comedies on Netflix<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

If Matthew McConaughey has taught me anything, it\u2019s that a one-dimensional female character will come along and try to force me to move out of my parent\u2019s house and make me grow up. If that doesn\u2019t sound like a typical Valentine\u2019s Day date, then I don\u2019t know what to tell you. (Failure to Launch<\/i> is still completely relevant even if it did come out almost ten years ago, right?)<\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Thirdwheeling your coupled friends<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Invite your friends over and stare longingly at them until everyone is uncomfortable. Isn\u2019t loneliness fun?<\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Go to the gym<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Statistically speaking, you\u2019ve already met the person you\u2019re going to marry. You might as well do a few push-ups and sit-ups to finally get them to notice you. Then you can ride sidesaddle off into the sunset like the Disney princess you were born to be.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Practice your Black Swan<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also your Albino Duck, which is a character from one of Tchaikovsky\u2019s lesser known ballets. She\u2019s jilted, but still confident, and really good at Natalie Portman impressions. Also, she doesn\u2019t commit suicide over a dude. So there\u2019s that.<\/span><\/p>\n

6.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Start a fire<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember that\u00a0Friends<\/i>\u00a0episode where the girls were burning pictures of exes and it started a fire and some hot firemen came and ended up being their dates? That might happen. There\u2019s always hope.<\/span><\/p>\n

7.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Three words: Tinder. Tinder. Tinder.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
