{"id":3601,"date":"2017-11-30T11:00:13","date_gmt":"2017-11-30T16:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/comblog\/?p=3601"},"modified":"2017-11-30T00:31:58","modified_gmt":"2017-11-30T05:31:58","slug":"kreag-the-farewell-blog-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/comblog\/2017\/11\/30\/kreag-the-farewell-blog-post\/","title":{"rendered":"Kreag: THE FAREWELL BLOG POST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">Well everyone, this is it, my final blog post as a COM Ambassador and as a college student!<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As of this <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday, December 1st<\/span><\/span>, I will officially be done with college, which is an absolutely crazy thought.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It feels like just yesterday I was driving into Boston to move in for freshman year.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But here I am, three and half years later, in Los Angeles, where I always hoped to end up, preparing for my final class of college!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">My time in Boston provided me with some of the best moments of my life.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I met some of my best friends and took advantage of some amazing opportunities that I wouldn\u2019t have had anywhere else.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Boston became my home and I am terribly sad to leave it behind for the huge metropolis that is Los Angeles, but I know some day I\u2019ll find my way back to Beantown!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">For my final blog post, I decided to compile a list of my favorite places\/things in Boston, and a list of the things I wish I had done during my time in the city.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>For any incoming or current students: check these places out; four (or 3.5) years flies by quicker than expected.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Make the most of your time in Boston!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>FAVORITE PLACES\/THING I DID IN BOSTON<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>The North End,<\/b> specifically all of the pastry places, like Modern Pastry.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>(Honestly, I think Modern is better than Mike\u2019s, plus it\u2019s cheaper.)<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s a lot of history in this part of town, lot\u2019s of old buildings and churches, etc.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s the perfect place to just walk around and absorb the city. <span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">Relatedly, I love <b>Faneuil Hall<\/b>, mainly because it was where my family would always take me when we would visit Boston when I was younger.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I just think it\u2019s such a cool place, with plenty of different dining and shopping options.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There are always performers there as well, and you\u2019ll be only a few minutes away from the harbor, another fantastic place!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>Coolidge Corner<\/b> is another one of my favorite places in Boston.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There is so much to do there: shopping, eating, seeing a movie.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Coolidge Corner Theater is an absolutely beautiful theater and always shows smaller indie films that might not show at Regal or AMC, which is great.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Brookline Booksmith, right across from the theater, is also another great place to visit.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They have a whole basement full of used books for great prices, and the store consistently brings in authors for a variety of events!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>Illuminus<\/b>, an art festival held on Landsdowne Street: The last time this festival happened was my sophomore year, and I\u2019m so sad they didn\u2019t bring it back until this fall while I was away in LA.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>During Illuminus, Landsdowne street was shut down and filled with a variety of art installations, most of which involved amazing lights.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It was quite a amazing to behold and I would totally recommend attending the next time it comes to Boston!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>Spectacle Island<\/b>&#8211; When I worked as a program assistant for the AMP high school program, I was able to bring my students on a trip through the harbor to Spectacle Island.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Not only was the boat ride beautiful, but the island itself is magnificent, with plenty of walking trails and beaches made almost entirely out of sea glass.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I guess it really was a spectacle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>THINGS I WISH I HAD DONE<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">Boston may not be the biggest city, but there is still so much to do both there and in the surrounding areas.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>One of my biggest regrets was failing to go to nearby places such as the<b> Bunker Hill Monument or the USS Constitution Museum<\/b>.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The USS Constitution was one of my parents\u2019 favorite places to bring me and my siblings when we would visit Boston as kids, so its a shame I never had the chance to see it while actually living nearby!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>The Institute of Contemporary Art<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">This museum is on the water!<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You probably see your friends there on Snapchat and realize that it\u2019s a super cool museum and wish you took the time to visit!<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Or maybe that\u2019s just me\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\"><b>The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">I\u2019m noticing a trend here with museums.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Again, I lived about ten minutes away from this museum\u00a0over the past three years and somehow never managed to visit it.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Fun fact, it\u2019s free to get in with a student ID or if your name is Isabella (I only qualify for one of those), so I really had no excuse not to stop by!<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-p1\">Well everyone, this was just a short list of the things I did and wish I had done while in Boston.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I think it serves as a way to commemorate the many great memories I made while visiting these places, with friends or on my own, all while learning the city and growing to call it home.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m sad that my time as a student at Boston University has come to a conclusion so soon, but I am beyond excited to see what the future has to offer me.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m so thankful for the many opportunities I have been offered during my time in Boston, especially those offered to me via COM.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Being a COM Ambassador is one of my favorite memories of all, and I\u2019m so happy I was able to spend the better part of my time at BU helping welcome in new students.<span class=\"m_-5001544009493545802gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well everyone, this is it, my final blog post as a COM Ambassador and as a college student!\u00a0 As of this Friday, December 1st, I will officially be done with college, which is an absolutely crazy thought.\u00a0 It feels like just yesterday I was driving into Boston to move in for freshman year.\u00a0 But here &hellip;
