MY FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT ON AND OFF CAMPUS\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
When I first came to BU, I was overwhelmed with the amount of\u00a0 food option on and around campus. There were so many dining\u00a0 halls, fast food chains, and restaurants all within walking distance\u00a0 and I had no idea what to do or where to go. As a senior (oh wow\u00a0 that hurt to type out), I have definitely tried my fair share of\u00a0 restaurants on and off campus and have strong opinions on what is\u00a0 worth checking out.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n First, I am going to start with my favorite place to eat on\u00a0 campus: The George Sherman Union (aka the GSU). The GSU is\u00a0 where you can find pretty much everyone at BU on a school day.\u00a0 Think of it as BU\u2019s own food court. There are places to grab food\u00a0 from like the Halal Guys, Panda Express, Starbucks, and Rhett\u2019s\u00a0 Diner. Just to name a few. When I come to the GSU, nine times out\u00a0 of ten, I get an impossible burger and french fries from Rhett\u2019s\u00a0 Diner. The GSU is the perfect place to grab a quick bite with friends\u00a0 and run into everyone you have ever met. Seriously though. You\u00a0 will see everyone from your freshman year roommate, to your\u00a0 orientation leader, to your class crush. Warning: Come to the GSU at\u00a0 your own risk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Freshman year, Nud Pob was THE spot. They have super delicious\u00a0 and quick Thai dishes that always hit the spot. My favorite dishes\u00a0 are the crab Rangoons, pad Thai, and red curry (extra spicy) with\u00a0 tofu. It is located right across from the GSU in central campus so it\u00a0 is super easy and convenient to pick up from. They also are\u00a0 available on GrubHub so you can order ahead and then pick up!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019m half Vietnamese and my grandmother makes the best pho\u00a0 in the entire world. If you don\u2019t know what that is it\u2019s a traditional\u00a0 Vietnamese soup dish with rice noodles, meat, vegetables, and\u00a0 herbs. It is the ultimate comfort food and something I always miss\u00a0 eating when I come to Boston. Luckily, I have been able to find a\u00a0 place nearby school (on Comm Ave near West Campus) that has\u00a0 amazing pho. I order the spicy beef pho but substitute the beef with\u00a0 tofu. I swear that bowl of pho heals my soul every time. It is perfect\u00a0 if you are feeling under the weather or are missing some comfort\u00a0 food.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n When my friends and I want to go to Newbury, this is where\u00a0 you can find us half of the time. Buttermilk and Bourbon is known\u00a0 for New Orleans style dishes and everything on their menu is\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n AMAZING. I recommend getting their prime burger sliders,\u00a0 Nashville hot alligator fries (I know it sounds weird but it tastes like\u00a0 popcorn chicken), warm honey glazed biscuits, and fresh fried\u00a0 beignets. If you want to get your steps in before this heavy meal it is\u00a0 only about a mile walk from east campus! Otherwise, it is a quick 7\u00a0 minute uber. Definitely recommend going for the food and funky\u00a0 atmosphere!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n So where do we go the other half of the time? The answer is\u00a0 always: Joe\u2019s on Newbury. Joe\u2019s is perfect for large parties like\u00a0 birthday dinners. They have a large menu with so many classics you\u00a0 can literally never go wrong. I always order a crock of French onion\u00a0 soup and get a side of loaded mashed potatoes (you can\u2019t go wrong\u00a0 with cheesy mashed potatoes and bacon). I am also giving a special\u00a0 shoutout to their buffalo chicken dip as well. It is the perfect\u00a0 appetizer. I took my family here when they came to visit for parent\u2019s\u00a0 weekend and they were also huge fans.
