I can do this! Right?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/comgrad\/ali-parisi\/\"><strong>By Ali Parisi<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bu.edu\/comgrad\/ali-parisi\/\"><em>MS Public Relations &#8217;16<\/em><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/admissions\/graduate\/\"><em>BU College of Communication<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last semester was definitely one for the books.\u00a0 I dove head first into grad school and faced the roaring currents head-on.\u00a0 But after a well-deserved (and much needed) winter break, I\u2019m already back in the thick of it.\u00a0 Chapters and chapters of reading seem to be piling up faster than I can even order my books.\u00a0 And yet, something feels different this semester.<\/p>\n<p>For one thing, I finally feel like I\u2019ve got this whole \u201cbalance\u201d thing down (even though sometimes I feel like I\u2019m going crazy trying to get all my work done and actually have a life on the side).\u00a0 When I take a second to stop and think about it though, I know I\u2019m ten times more confident this semester than the last one.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the workload is still just as intense, if not more. but this time I know how to manage it better.\u00a0 I know how to prioritize and organize my homework so I\u2019m not overwhelmed.\u00a0 And I know that if I don\u2019t read every single word of every single assigned reading, <em>it\u2019s ok! <\/em>Professors care more about understanding the big picture than memorizing and regurgitating minute details.<\/p>\n<p>As much as I may feel more confident and ready to take on a new semester of grad school, I know the stress will still build up.\u00a0 It\u2019s inevitable when you\u2019re in grad school because frankly, it comes with the territory.\u00a0 You knowingly sign up for a rigorous academic curriculum and convince yourself that it\u2019ll be just like undergrad.\u00a0 Unfortunately, it\u2019s not, and you\u2019re still going to forget to complete an assignment or cram the night before an exam.<\/p>\n<p>Again, <em>that\u2019s ok!<\/em> So what if I get too busy and can\u2019t study for a test as much as I\u2019d like to? And yes, I\u2019m repeating that as much for you as I am for me.\u00a0 Because even though I can say that it\u2019s okay to screw up every once in a while, I know I inevitably will still stress about it.\u00a0 Guess I\u2019ll just have to click back to this post if I start to head towards a mental breakdown for a little encouragement.<\/p>\n<p>Because I\u2019ve done it once, and I can do it again. Right?
