One of the things that happens in a community is that people stay in touch. In keeping with this, we\u2019re going to be posting updates of recent news sent in to us by students, alumni, and instructors: announcements of new jobs or marriages, interesting trips, recent accomplishments, and current projects.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019d like to send in an update to share with the Core community, please drop us a line at <a href=\"mailto:core@bu.edu\">core@bu.edu<\/a>. We\u2019d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n<h1>September 2014 updates:<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Novruz Javadov,<\/strong> the RA of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/core\/community\/core-housing\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Core House<\/a>, personally welcomes all the freshmen on campus. He writes: &#8220;The Core House has been pretty lively so far! There is a rumor going around about a regular evening dance work-out happening in the common room; I guess we are exercising more than our essay-writing and critical thinking skills.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/mlcl\/profile\/sassan-tabatabai\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Professor Sassan Tabatabai<\/strong><\/a>, who is the head of the Persian Language Program, is currently working on a translation of Sufi, Persian, and Mystical Poetry. His recent translations were translated from the Persian works of Jalal al-Din Rumi, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Father-Persian-Verse-Iranian-Studies\/dp\/9087280920?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=thewonref-20&amp;link_code=btl&amp;camp=213689&amp;creative=392969\" target=\"_blank\">Ja\u2019far ibn Mohammad Rudaki<\/a>, and Mohammad-Reza Shafi-Kadkani. [By the way&#8230; did you know you can preview Prof. Tabatabai&#8217;s collection of poetry,\u00a0<em>Uzunburun<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Uzunburun-Sassan-Tabatabai-ebook\/dp\/B009D5SK50\/ref=la_B00AADF7DM_1_1_bnp_1_kin_ku?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1410354101&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\">on Amazon<\/a>?]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frances Gossen<\/strong>, an editor of campus magazine <a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/clarion\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Clarion<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and Core\u00a0office assistant, is now on study abroad in London. She reports that earlier this month she paid a visit, for the first time, to the Netherlands. There, she made her way through the beautiful canals, and visited the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksmuseum.nl\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Rijksmuseum<\/a>, dedicated to the art and the history of Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"www.bu.edu\/core\/people\/faculty\/kyna-hamill\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Professor Kyna Hamill<\/strong><\/a> is now editing a collection of essays on the intersections of theater and war.
