Special thanks to EnCore, the Core alumni association, for organizing the event. (IMPORTANT: There will be wine.)<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Forget death and seek life!&#8221; Heritage Daily posted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heritagedaily.com\/2017\/05\/guide-to-the-classics-the-epic-of-gilgamesh\/114812\">a guide to the <em>Epic of Gilgamesh<\/em><\/a>, citing our translation of choice, David Ferry&#8217;s <em>Gilgamesh: A New Rendering in English Verse<\/em> (1992), as the most readable of translations of the work.<\/li>\n<li>James Holmes and John Maurer of <em>The National Interest<\/em> argue the case for <a href=\"http:\/\/nationalinterest.org\/feature\/dont-exile-thucydides-the-war-colleges-16038\">teaching Thucydides at war colleges<\/a>. Thucydides, along with Clausewitz, Sun Tzu, Mahan, Corbett, and Mao, comprise the canon of war colleges&#8217; strategy courses.<\/li>\n<li>I believe theres a lot to learn from reading Capital,&#8217;&#8221; said British shadow chancellor John McDonnell on May 7th. Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn had to agree, admitting Marx was a &#8220;great economist.&#8221; Naturally, such statements <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/news\/britain\/21721916-shadow-chancellors-comment-provoked-scorn-yet-marx-becomes-more-relevant-day-labour\">stirred controversy<\/a>, primarily having to do with Marxist history rather than Marxian theory. <em>The Economist<\/em>, meanwhile, claims that Marx can teach us a great deal even in today&#8217;s world.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The history of the Hogarth Press:<\/strong> In 1917, Virginia and Leonard Woolf <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2017\/apr\/24\/a-publisher-of-ones-own-virginia-and-leonard-woolf-and-the-hogarth-press\">established the Hogarth Press<\/a>. It would be an investment that, though time-consuming, allowed them greater freedom in publishing their own works as well as those of other authors.
