Robert Connor, a professor of classics emeritus at Princeton University and director emeritus of the National Humanities Center, found insight into our society&#8217;s future from a narrative of the pandemic in Athens. In his reading of Thucydides&#8217;s<em>History of the Peloponnesian War,<\/em>he found himself considering the full impact of COVID-19 beyond its tolls on our physical health.
